Kevin Almoina Lacanlale

Kevin showed us that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. His life was too short for those of us who loved him, but we are thankful to have known him.

February 1993 - March 2012

March 2012, Kevin and three friends were on their way to an early morning church service. A tree had fallen across the roadway, and in the dark and rain, Kevin was hit by another vehicle while helping others to safety.

A life Well Lived

Kevin was a freshman at the University of California, Berkeley on a full scholarship awarded by the Gates Millennium Scholarship Foundation.  He filled his life with good friends, his family called him "our angel," and educators recognized his promising future.

Born in Makati City, Philippines, at the age of one his family moved to Silverdale, Washington. The youngest of four, the family marveled at his positive attitude, easy smile, love of music and reading, athletic ability and faith in God. The Central Kitsap community mourns his tragic passing and trusts that his short life will be an inspiration to others.

Extraordinary son, brother, friend

Kevin left his family and community with amazing accomplishments.  He was God's precious gift to his family.  A perfect 4.0 high school student, a highly competitive athlete and unquestionably devoted christian.  He was an inspiration and often an ideal example to students.  He mentored and tutored friends that needed help academically. Despite of the demanding school activities, he also volunteered in hospital and held numerous offices in his church.  Although Kevin left us all, his memories and legacy continues. In commemoration to his academic achievement,  the Central Kitsap High School Alumni Association created a scholarship fund in his name - "Kevin Lacanlale Memorial Scholarship Fund"
