Memories and condolences

The following are excerpts from the Dignity Memorial Guest Book, sympathy cards and letters written for Kevin:

March 21, 2012

A true impact to all of CK high and anyone who's known him. It broke my heart completely hearing the loss. I've been pondering on this thought for days, because the news definitely left a spot in my heart. He had great opportunities coming his way and lived a life he did not waste. Kevin had big dreams and the true talent to achieve them. It hurts to know he's gone from earth but to be in the arms of our God, seeing the Lord face to face, I know Kevin's safe. Scars will be left in the hearts of us on earth, but Kevin, you were a great person and I hope to see you again one day in heaven. Your family and close friends are in my prayers, your legacy will never be forgotten...ever. Rest in Peace.

We got to be really good friends, he made me laugh so much, and was so awkward, funny, and kind at the same time. He had everything going for him and was going to help so many people with his incredible talent. He taught me to take a chance, because life is incredible. When we were 15 I tried to ask him to a dance, but I chickened out and probably embarrassed myself more by running away. A lesser person wouldn't have been as kind as Kevin was afterwards. We grew to be even better friends. In my senior year book Kevin wrote to me: "I remember in the ninth grade...I would have said yes if you didn't run away. you ran too fast..."don't lose your spunk, I like it..." Kevin has taught me to never run away and to always be grateful for this life. He will be missed.

Kevin's family is full of life and care for one another - a family worth having! For a short period of his life, Kevin made an impact to all of us...including those he saved before God took him. Kevin proved that nothing is impossible if we put our mind into our goals - a rare Bill Gates Award is a proof of it.

Kevin is a son, a friend, a mentor, and a Christian worth having to be around with. The wound will never heal, but Kevin's memories and achievements will help us to be a better person.

Kevin.... I remember taking you home your first visit here to SpL...and calling you "Kevin" from the movie UP. =*) You always had a smile on your face. I will never forget that. You will be missed by all, but never forgotten. You're an awesome person and I'm glad that I was able to have that chance to get to know you. We'll see each other again.=)

Kevin and I were roommates back in time when we took summer courses in UC Berkeley at the year of 2010. He was a friendly, considerate and sociable person. We talked about our views on different subjects and our future plan, especially his dedication to become a doctor. We kept in contact afterwards.

We met again in UC Berkeley after a year. We had dinner together at the end of semester and talked about our second time in UC Berkeley and our feelings. It was great to meet a old friend in the same place. And shared how fruitful his freshmen life was.

I tried to have some gathering with him after his birthday but due to busy workload I didn't make it. At that moment I didn't realize I lost the last chance to see him again.

I just realized the shocked and saddening news after such a long time. I feel sorry for not caring enough about my friend.

Kevin, may you rest in peace in heaven.

On behalf of the Locale Of Okinawa, Japan & CFO (Bro. Daryl is the Kadiwa President of the Locale)
Our deepest sympathy & condelences to the Lacanlale family. We had the pleasure of meeting Bro. Kevin when he visited us here a few months ago. He actually had his appendix burst and had surgery here the last few weeks on his vacation. He was a nice, respectful and talented young man. His Kuya Daryl was and still is proud of him & accomplishments. We hate to see a life taken so soon but we know our almighty Father has called Bro. Kevin to rest and will be one of the choosen ones to rise first when our Lord comes again. May God grant you comfort in your time of grieving. God Blees you all. -Sis. Ann & Bro.
