Kevin and his family

The Lacanlale-Almoina Family, October 2010, Silverdale, Washington

Kevin grew up with love and care from family members. Being the youngest in the family, he was the center of attention and affection at home.  He loves being at home and enjoy the company of family.

Being the youngest in the family, Kevin has all the tendency to become brat.  Instead, he became the child who is polite, obedient, and  well mannered in every way. He is a conformist and hardly complain. He is a son, a grandson, and a brother any family can ever wish.

Kevin wants to be different...

Although Kevin grew up in military oriented family, Kevin ambition was different. He wanted to become a Physician. He loves helping people and wants to serve his community.

He knew it will take hard work and determination and he took this ambition seriously.  At a very young age, Kevin excelled to perfection in all his academic classes. From 9th Grade to 12th Grade, he attained a perfect 4.0 grade GPA.  He graduated "Salutatorian" in high school. With his academic achievements, Kevin was awarded a 4 year full scholarship by the "Gates Millennium Scholar Foundation" in 2011. He continued his studies at UC Berkeley.

Kevin acquired so many characteristic from his mother. His Chinese and Spanish features is attributed to his mother's heritage.  His quiet, pleasing and well-mannered personality are similar to his mother.

No one knows Kevin better than his mother.  From childhood to manhood, he would grow-up in a world that his mother has prepared for him.

Kevin' father is Yeng Lacanlale (also known as Francisco Lacanlale).  He is the fourth child of Mercedes Lacanlale.

Born in Manila, Philippines and later migrated to United States in Oct 1971.

Francisco (Yeng) Lacanlale was serving with the U.S. Marines Corps while stationed in Philippines when Kevin was born.  He retired from the military four months after Kevin was born.

While in retirement, Kevin grew very close with his father.  As a child, he would sleep, take a bath, visit parks and even go fishing.  Being the youngest in the family and having so much talent, Kevin's father was so amazed how he exceeded into perfections beyond his siblings.  His father believes Kevin is an "Angel" sent by God to his family.

The big sister...

Crystal, like his elder brother, graduated from Seattle University 2007 and subsequently served in the US Army. She is presently attending graduate school at the University of Washington.

Crystal love his brother Kevin so dearly. She was always concern about Kevin's health, school needs and supplies, clothes and almost anything that Kevin wants.  She was quick to respond to Kevin's request and often volunteered to pay for the many things Kevin wanted.

Crystal and Kevin have special bonding. Kevin was his big sister's baby, best friends, and special brother.

Daryl is Kevin's mentor in sports, video game and math. They enjoyed hanging around together.  He was Kevin's inspiration in going to prestigious University.

Daryl and Kevin are more than brothers. They shared so many happy moments, ideas and goals in life. Darly mentored his brother to be the best he can be.

Grandma...Inda and Kevin

Kevin's grandmother on father side is Mercedes Lacanlale Villarubia.  She was born in Macabebe, Pampanga, Philippines in April 1919.  At age 9 years old, Mercedes and her parents moved to Guadalupe, Makati where she was raised and made it home for 40 years.  In 1968 she migrated to United States and in 1971, she managed to petition her youngest son, Francisco (Yeng) Lacanlale to United States.

Mercedes stood as mother and helped raised Kevin all his life. From the moment Kevin was born, Mercedes was there for him.  She always think of what Kevin will eat and worries when she doesn't see him.

Kevin has a special place in grandma's heart. She loves him dearly and wishes to give him the best of everything

Grandpa and Kevin

Kevin's grandfather on mother side is Francisco Lao Almoina.  Born in Tubigun, Bohol, Philippines on October 6, 1927. Francisco's mother is Susana Lao, the daugther ofa pure Chinese named Laloy Lao (maybe able to check his Christian and Chinese name from Tubigon cemetery) and the mother was Gerarda Montilde from Bonbon, Clarin, Bohol. She was born on August 11, 1893.

Kevin and his grandfather has strong resemblance (see picture). They also has the same personality. Kevin's family thinks that if Kevin had lived to be 84 years old, he would look like his grandfather.
